Q. Do I need a book or should I buy a book for BLS class?

A. We will provide a current AHA BLS course book for your use during BLS class. If you want to buy a book, it’s $17.  Anyone can buy a BLS book ahead of class, for $12.95-$13.95 plus shipping,  from Laerdal, Channing-Bete, or WorldPoint, the 3 authorized distributors of AHA course materials.

Q.  Are there other options for completing the BLS course, other than 3-hour class?

A.  Yes, here’s two.  (1) You can take the online Part 1, at your convenience and leisure, from onlineAHA.org, for $28.50.  Within 60 days of completing, get a BLS Skills Check, we charge $30 if before one of our scheduled classes, and $45 if we meet you just to do a skill check.  Takes 20-40 min for practice (Part 2) and 10-15 min. for skills check (Part 3).

The option (2), only at your request, and you need to be knowledgeable about correct CPR and BLS procedures, is BLS Renewal Challenge.  Take BLS written test (no remediation available), and BLS skills check (no remediation also).  Pass both and leave with BLS card in 40 minutes.  $50 for BLS Challenge, a 1-on-1 appointment.  For BLS Challenge, your BLS card must be current, and you must have a current book, and can’t be within a year of newly released ECC guidelines.
